Welcome to the official website for the Preliminary Design Study and Class Environmental Assessment for Highway 11/17 expansion from west of Stillwater Creek to east of First Street. The Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has retained HDR Inc. (HDR) to undertake the study.
MTO completed a planning and environmental assessment study for this section of Highway 11/17 in 1997 that identified short- and long-term improvements for the corridor. The short-term improvements included widening the existing highway to five lanes while the long-term improvements included construction of a new four-lane divided highway, new interchanges and new bridge crossings.
This study will build on the work completed in 1997. The project team will review previously recommended improvements and consider changes in land use, transportation needs, environmental conditions and highway design standards.
The website will be updated throughout the study as project information, notices, consultation materials, and approved project documentation become available.
